Sephora Overload!!

So I've been in New York for about 4 days now and already visited Sephora 3 times!

I do have a little bit of a haul to share but that won't be until I'm back home. In the mean time, I'm going to play with my new make up and give everything a fair testing :)

Orange Is The New Black - Alex

A few weeks ago I started of a little series on my blog. I am super excited by this and if you hadn't seen my first post then you can read it here. I really think that OITNB has some amazingly iconic make up looks and this time I am focusing on Alex.

I love Alex's look, it's so simple but it just says everything about her. If you have watched the show then you will totally get what I mean. The glasses are my favourite part really, the rest of her make up is definitely a part of her character but the glasses are her signature so I couldn't really do this look if I didn't have a handy pair of black frame glasses.

Now granted I'm not wearing the glasses on my face I am still very happy with how this look turned out. Mainly I kept getting reflections from the glasses when I was taking pictures and to be fair she does wear them on her head a lot of the time. The only real issue I had was my brows, obviously hers are thinner, higher and more arched than mine but I tried to get mine to follow some sort of shape.

The liner is a little different to what I'm used to as the wing part begins just before the outer corner of the eye. Generally I think I was luck with this one because she has a very similar shaped face to me, she's also naturally very pale and a natural ginger!

Anyway, let me know what you think of my attempt :) I'll be sure to post the next instalment soon haha.

Update!

I like to do a little update now and again to let you all know what's happening in my life, you may have noticed this if you've been following my blog for some time. As you probably know, I am off to New York soon (11 days away!) so I have been a little absent from my blog but trying as much a humanly possible to still get content out for you all.

I think I did amazingly in April/May but the past couple of months have been a little slow. I am in a busy state at the moment but I really do care about this blog and want to make sure it is still interesting for my readers. Essentially I am going to try and put out new stuff for you at least every 2 days and then after my holiday I am going to revert to pre spending ban blog posts including Beauty Smackdown, The Drugstore Edit and Fixation Friday.

I really want to thank all of my readers for still sticking with me and I promise I will be a bit more regular from now on.

The British Tag

I have literally just come across this tag and instantly wanted to do it. I found this on EmilyGrace and decided her answers were great so you should go over and check out her post. Anyway, onto my answers.

1. How many cups of tea do you have a day? + How many sugars?
At least 1 cup a day, I much more of a coffee drinker but I do enjoy a good cup of tea

2. Favourite part of your roast
Either Yorkshire puddings or roast potatoes. All the carbs.

3. Favourite dunking biscuit
Chocolate covered Rich Teas. Right, I know that these biscuits are virtually useless for dunking given the fact that they can withstand the hot tea/coffee for a grand total of 0.7 seconds but I still think they are the most delicious biscuits ever. That or that Cadbury's shortbread biscuits.

4. Favourite quintessentially British pastime?
Took me ages to actually think of one but I guess my favourite is probably afternoon tea whilst watching Countdown, it doesn't get more British than that.

5. Favourite word
I'll have to go clean here because I don't think it would be right to say my favourite word. It's difficult to come up with a word I like because truthfully I find numbers more satisfying (I'm weird, I know) because it's nice to find a good sequence but in the interest of the category then I would say that I like the word 'Synonym', it's nice to say and often gets pronounced as 'Cinnamon' which I also like.

6. Cockney rhyme slang
I hate Cockney rhyming slang. I especially hate Ruby Murray which is slang for curry, but I hate it down to the fact that once in a while someone will notice my name and make a comment like 'Eeee do you like curry?'.

7. Favourite sweet
I love liquorice especially those Catherine Wheels with the Spog in the middle. That sounds like utter gibberish. It's a long bit of liquorice that has been coiled around another sweet (Spog) which is like a liquorice flavoured jelly covered in hundreds and thousands.

8. What would your pub be called?
The Cat's Meow.

9. No.1 British person
I can't pick one so I'll cheat and give you a list of my favourites.
Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellan, Dame Judy Dench, Tom Hiddleston, Tilda Swinton, Frankie Boyle, Dame Vivienne Westwood and so many more. I could go on forever.

10. Favourite shop / restaurant
Favourite shop? Fenwicks, hands down - they have everything I want. Favourite restaurant? Don't have one. Anywhere that serves good food for a good price.

11. What British song pops into your head?
The Chain - Fleetwood Mac

12. Marmite?
Absolutely not.

Anyway, if you like this tag I'd love to know your thoughts and also see your answers! Leave your links below :)

Small But Mighty | JULY FAVOURITES

I've left my July favourites later than I ever would for some reason but at least I am getting it out there :)

It's been a bit of a quiet month for me, despite getting the Glamour Latest In Beauty Box I don't really have an awful lot from there that is featured in my favourites. This is mainly down to the fact that I need further testing on some of the products and others are more seasonally appropriate so you will possibly be seeing them later on in the year.

Benefit Porefessional
Ok, so if you haven't ever seen this before then you clearly live under a rock. I am more than likely going to be purchasing a full size of this in the near future. I mainly like the apply this over my T-zone and any areas that need a little smoothing. The formula is quite thick but is perfect for holding your make up down. The only thing I would really have to say is that you should try not to use an awful lot and just spread out a small amount over a large surface otherwise I think this could be quite slippy.

MAC Prep+Prime Skin
I got a little sample of this a while back when MAC were giving them away via their Facebook page. Naturally I jumped at the chace and have seriously fallen head over heels for this. I tend to use this and the porefessional together but I would apply this everywhere but the T-Zone. The consistency is different to the porefessional as it is a bit more moisturising and has a thinner feel but not by much. I, again, will probably buy the full size because I really think it's one of MACs best products.

Elf Small Stippling Brush
I got into applying my foundation with a stippling brush just under a year ago and loved it - Then I found the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush and have never looked back. My poor little stippling brush has been neglected ever since until I got a hold of the Bourjois Cream Blush and these two are just a match made in heaven! I knew that this brush would be perfect for this and it really is, it manages to apply the blush in a really natural finish but also ensures that you aren't going to go overboard with colour. This brush was also super affordable at no more than £4! I seriously recommend having a look at the Elf Studio line because I think there is some serious value to be had.

Bourjois Cream Blush
Of course I couldn't talk about the stippling brush without mentioning this bad boy! I have wanted to try a cream blush for so long so when this arrived at my doorstep I was elated. I was a bit concerned however as this particular shade is straight up peach, I've never used a peach blush before and really didn't think it would suit me but in all honesty I think this is one of the most flattering blushes I have ever tried. This has made me rethink my entire make up application - for the better of course. This blends amazingly over the top of foundation and just give a nice flush of colour without being obvious or to heavy. I am excited to try more shades of this blush and really encourage everyone to give them a try!

And of course...NON-BEAUTY FAVOURITES!!

Orange Is The New Black

Come on now, you must know I'm obsessed. I'm even doing a make up series based on the show!
I love love love this show and I really think everyone should start watching. Season 2 has come to an end and now I am having withdrawal waiting for season 3 to make it's entry. My OTP? Bennett and Daya.

That is everything I have been loving for the month of July! I may not get a chance to to my August Favourites until quite late on given that I will be away at the end of this month. I will try my best to get it done asap but I don't really know what the situation will be.

What having you been loving?

Illamasqua Glamore Lipstick | LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT

I'm having a little revamp of my reviews here on Me & My Makeup. I find that sometimes people are after a definitive yes or no when it comes to products and whilst you will still get all the rambling there will be a bit more of a structured format to my posts. Let me know what you think

I have seen reviews of this around a lot lately. They are a new release from Illamasqua and were recently featured in the Glamour Beauty Edit Box (Where I got mine).

I have never tried an Illamasqua lipstick before, let alone any of their products. I have really wanted to try their products for some years now and obviously snapped up the chance of getting one and also a great bargain!

I almost feel like I spent far too long on this photo but I think it looks nice. I really just wanted to display how cool the packaging is. I was a little anxious to try this colour given that I am super pale and I don't really have anything like this in my very limited collection haha.

This was literally after one swipe. I am so impressed with the pigmentation again a little hesitant to try this but It's seriously beautiful. Also this has a very strange smell to it, not a bad smell at all but a bit like a sweet pastry or something. Does anyone else know what I mean?

I really love the application of this lipstick,  it's moisturising enough and it isn't super glossy. I wouldn't have chosen this colour for myself but that's what I love about this box, it's given me things to try that I never would have. I more than likely will buy another in a colour I am more suited to.

This lipstick is around £18.50, so it's super pricey but I think they're totally worth it.

Have you tried this? What do you think?
